I am slightly frazzled from the first two days of orientation.
Tomorrow's the last day and then Friday I will get to meet my department proper.
Ah!
What was I thinkin when they said "intensive orientation programme".
Mind you it's none of that trust fall or mind mapping, but rather 3 full days (9-7) of indoctrination.
Yes...to put it simply: BRAINWASHING.
Their Mission
History
Core Values
Goals
Future plans
I can rattle off who our founders are from the top of my head, how much we aim to raise annually, our innovative modes of fund raising...
And they've got every aspect of the orientation covered.
From answers to address the public when critics rebutt us, to how to brush and floss our teeth (because: Repeat after me! If you look good, you feel good and will then work better!) to etiquette to presentation skills to 'how to win over critics'.
I did'nt think that I was really impacted by the whole not-for-profit propaganda, and how we are ambassadors working towards saving lives, and how we should educate the public TILL I was caught saying....
"Yes! But WE believe...."
I was no more I
Josephine is I no more
WE
Part of a cause
Part of this organization.
But like mofo said, I cannot lose sight of what it was like to be on the other side of the fence. When I was not yet part of this cause. my perceptions, my outrage, my views, and draw on that to make important changes to public perception.
Don't worry.
I won't be coming to all of your with my tin cup lah.
enough rambling
