I've been very lazy to write, lots of interesting things have been happening around me of late but I think there has been a slump in my literary and creative pursuits, examples being:
1) Taking 3 months to get through a simple paper back (am finally at the last chapter, pop the bubbly!)
2) Talk about purchasing dead tree passionately then shrugging it off the next day
3) Smelly Birdcages under my sink that now have several mushroom farms propagating on them
4) Dead bush in corner of my room taking up space

The trip to HK was nothing less than perfect
We ate like there was no tomorrow (With the whole bird flu pandemic going on, devouring geese and chickens at break neck speeds gives new meaning to the phrase 'eating like there is no tomorrow'), and shopped enough to put Santa to shame. The only major hiccup was with our accomodation, or rather, lack of.

Please do not EVER consider making reservations at this dodgy outfit.
Alarm bells should have gone off when we had to call to reserve rooms instead of being able to booking them online. We booked 2 rooms 2 days in advance with Mr. Chan over the phone and he swore on his mother's grave (exagerrations allowed. thank you) that we were assured rooms. Upon arrival and after lugging or suitcases along the pavements of causeway bay, we reached what was Sun Kong Hostel. You see, Sun Kong is located within a block of flats. It's no bigger than your typical 5 room HDB flat and they partitioned it so that they could squeeze in 6 ENSUITE rooms into the tiny flat space! We were greeted by the shrill voice of an unhappy indonesian guest, dirty linen piled in a corner and the sound of leaky air conditioners.
To cut the long story short, they had given up bookings to accomodate walk-ins, which thus meant that come 6pm we may or may not have to a room. We ended up sitting in starbucks frantically running though numbers and finally settled on... Bishop Lei Guesthouse. A catholic hotel. ha! S$350 a night compared to the S$60 we budgeted for Sun Kong, it bust our budget badly. In any case, Bishop Lei was cosy and we were just grateful for good beds and a TV.

Service in HK was so good, and I dare say a few notches up from customer service in Singapore. We met so many nice people during our 4 days there. One person that really stood out for me was Steven. A yuppie in his late 20s that gave up his career to start a dog cafe so he could marry career with taking care of his 4 dogs. We found his St. Bernard Cafe as we were walking and looking out for guerilla and indie shops tucked away in old flats. We spent over an hour playing with his Retriever, Huskey, St, Bernard and Maltese while drinking ice tea and coffee flavoured with 1 million stands of dog fur. He offered us good eating tips and dispensed great shopping advice.

I wish I had photos but I will try to get them soon.
Meanwhle, Psychic Sonny went to Shanghai and snapped this awesome Marilyn Manson grafitti in my honour.
Now pardon me as I weane off my emo dependancy with a new book and van houten chocolate.

PS: I went roller blading for the first time on Sunday, fell and split my damn pants. Typical.

You know how teenagers of the 21st century spend their holidays?
Waiting in the lobby for their favorite TeeVee stars to get out of cabs and then proceed to harass the poor fellows into autograph and photo posing submission. What happened to good 'ol ice skating and hanging out at malls? Man.
In other news I got to see Tim Go in the canteen and he is really as gorgeous in real life as in reel life. Ha! I sound like a teenager. bye.

This blog has been deprived of warm toothfairy loving.
I got back from London on the 1st of this month, full of 7 serves of pub fish and chips. What followed was a week of intensive yoga, 5 times in a week (blimey!) and at tai tai hours of 11 in the morning, sharing my ohm utopia with aunties sporting 2-way cake on their made up faces and the odd semi retired uncle. Started work in Tuesday, just a 1 month stint at our local TeeVee News outfit, to foot my candy bills, whilst continuing job search.
Met with a dopey international admissions officer for uni of western australia today, silly dope who knew nothing about the courses his charity offers (yes, all uni's in aust are registered charities. suck us dry you and justify the exorbitant international fees) and told me that I should just apply for undergrad medicine direct. Silly man, did he not see my pathetic undergrad and grad transcripts? Cannot make it lah. Sigh. I think I'll stick to the original plan and not deviate from the path.

I'm off to hong kong on a zoo trip taking along munkey treats with me should I see an odd primate or 2.
Back next week with pictures from both trips I promise (joshua's scanner is busted)

later alligators!
