"What Christmas spirit?" I spat as I stood in line waiting for my presents to be wrapped 2 days ago. Today as we squeezed though the madness that is Orchard Rd, frantically doing our very last minute shopping, he turned to me and said "I can't wait to go to church and get out of this." I blinked and nodded, knowing how right he was. Screw this consumerism, the advertorials, the bright lights, the brain washing monkey juice.
As I sat in church today, waiting for the familiar tune of Silent Night signifying the start of the celebration, it felt right. Not the party we just had at home, not the gifts, not the copious amounts of cullinary delights, not the company or lack of. Christ came down to share humanity so that we could share his divinity. Merry Christmas all, and I hope you all find your own spirit of Chirstmas.
